David Temperley, ‘Much Ado About Nothing – The Nature of Interstellar Space’

Interstellar space is nearly empty – more rarified than the greatest vacuum on earth – and yet the tenuous contents of the space between the stars are responsible for stellar formation and the life cycle of galaxies. This talk will describe the different phases of interstellar space and the methods of observing them. Some of the most beautiful objects in the sky, the star forming nebulae, will be included in the description.
